Brisbane International Airport is currently on lockdown as the authorities are currently investigating a security matter.
The flight delays have caused queues to grow within the terminal, with passengers aboard grounded planes getting disembarked and re-screened as the police conduct a search that includes checking passengers’ photo IDs.
Brisbane Airport tweeted this morning: “We hope to have the area cleared shortly to recommence screening.”
Passengers who have landed in Brisbane reported that they have been on the tarmac for over an hour, waiting for further instructions.
The airport also tweeted this morning that the incident was ongoing, and asked passengers going through the screening process to prepare themselves for delays as the management and authorities try to sort out the mess.
As of late, Brisbane International Airport has reported that the incident has been resolved. Below is their tweet:
⚠️UPDATE: Security matter has been resolved without incident. We’re working hard to get operations back on track. Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
