guy waiting for his bags at the airport

How to get your suitcase first at the airport

Flying is one of the most convenient ways to travel. However, waiting for your bags is an inconvenience everyone has experienced at least once in their lives.

Luckily, there are techniques that you can do to ensure that your bags come to you without waiting too long.

Last one in, first one out

Ideally, you would like to have everything in order and settled down with just enough time to relax and maybe even finish your hotdog sandwich. You can still do all of that, but wait until the last minute before checking in your bag.

The principle behind this is that carts are often loaded front to back, so if your bag is loaded last, it will be the first one out of the gates upon arrival. It should be there once you get to baggage claim, and you can be on your way without trouble.

Gate checked bags

Another way is to gate check your bag to make sure that it will go in last, and come out first. However, this has a downside, as you won’t be able to pack liquids or other items that aren’t allowed on carry-on bags because you will need to take them with you through security and the gate.

Fragile stickers

Lastly, try asking for a fragile sticker from airline staff. When it’s labelled as such, personnel will be more keen to handle your bags with care and will put it on top of the other luggage instead of putting it at the bottom.

There is also a  higher chance that they will want to unload your bags first when marked with this sticker, to ensure that you get it as soon as possible.

Because of its labels, they will want to unload it as soon as possible. Thus you will be able to get your bags faster.
